Desiring to work towards ECUMENISM in an area where several religious denominations thrive, the Religious of the Assumption founded Sta. Rite Academy. 70 prep children were taken in and had their lessons in the church building.
In March. 1968, the Diocese began the construction of the school building within the site of the present parish church. A higher grade was added every year so that by the school year 1973-1974, the school offered a complete elementary course.
Right from the start, Sta. Rite Academy served as a symbol of the unity of the people of Sibalom. The Eucharistic Celebration during the blessing of the school was attended by Catholics, Aglipayans, Protestants and others, worshipping God as one family.
Sta. Rite is the only private Catholic school in Sibalom. It is located at the heart of the town of Sibalom, Antique. The students come from different denominations whose families wish a private Catholic education for their children.
Convinced that the family is the primary educator, the sisters, the lay faculty and the volunteers work in close collaboration with the families of the students with the hope to build a community founded on Jesus Christ where the Gospel values are lived.
